How to Select the Right Course Structure for your Professional Development

Students can study one subject at a time or plan their course from the beginning. Enrolment in one subject only is appropriate for students who wish to enhance their work-place value but do not know their future direction or do not wish to totally commit to the course. Enrolment in subjects as non-award “stand-alone” subjects is also possible.

Students who know their course requirements should be aware that several subjects are related to the same specialisation and should choose their electives accordingly. For example:

  • R&D laboratory  (HES6406, HBSG200, HES6414)
  • QC Lab   (HES6417, 6418, HIR104)
  • Validation (HES6404, 6411, 6412)
  • Manufacturing (HES6416, 6413)
  • QA (HES6415, 6414, HIR104)
  • General Business Skills  (7 subjects available)
  • General Science Skills (HES6417, HES6418, HES6419, HIR104)

For a typical Graduate Diploma student, the subjects are as follows:

There are 5 compulsory subjects (Group A):

  • GMP Principles HES6401
  • GMP Practices HES6402
  • Validation Principles HES6403
  • Good QC Laboratory Practices HES6404
  • Contamination Control HES6405

Students will then do one compulsory subject from Group B:

  • HES6406 Process Development for Therapeutics (A) – A Perspective for Protein Therapeutics
  • HES6407 (1) Process Development for Therapeutics (B) – A Perspective for Small Molecules
  • HES6410 Product Development for Therapeutics (C) – A Perspective for Medical Devices
  • HES6407(2) Product Development for Therapeutics (D) – A Perspective for Pharmaceutical Products

Students will pick 1 elective from the C Group and 1 elective from any Group.
