Description
The diagnosis for depression is termed Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and is one of the most prevalent mental illnesses, affecting an estimated 17% of the world population at some point in their lifetime. A heterogeneous and complicated mood disorder, depression can wreak havoc on an individual and, in the most tragic cases, can culminate in suicide. Despite the fact that many effective treatments and therapies have been developed for treating depression, it often goes undiagnosed and therefore untreated. The three courses in this suite review the cause, diagnosis, and treatment options for MDD.
