Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) leads to dysfunction of the central retina. Associated with a wide spectrum of signs and symptoms, it is the primary cause of visual disability among adults in Western societies. Although no cure for AMD exists, several preventive therapies are available. This suite covers the etiology and prevalence of AMD and describes the diagnostic tools and treatment options for the wet and dry forms of AMD.
